Terms and Conditions of Entry
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By submitting an entry to this competition, each entrant acknowledges that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, together with the Competition Rules and Evidence Standards published on this website.
Failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions may result in an entry being rejected or disqualified.
2. Eligibility
The competition is open to individuals aged 18 years or over unless otherwise prohibited by the laws of their country or jurisdiction.
Employees, contractors, adjudicators and any person directly involved in administering the competition are not eligible to enter.
The organiser reserves the right to request proof of identity and eligibility at any time.
3. Competition Period
Entries will be accepted only during the published competition period.
Any submission received after the published closing date will not be considered unless the competition has been formally extended before the original closing date.
4. Entry Requirements
Entries must be submitted using the method specified on this website.
Each submission should clearly identify:
- the evidence being relied upon;
- how the evidence supports the Proposition;
- the source of each item of evidence;
- sufficient information to permit independent verification.
Entrants may submit additional supporting documentation where appropriate.
5. Original Responsibility
Entrants are solely responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of all material submitted.
By entering, the entrant warrants that, to the best of their knowledge:
- the submission is truthful;
- documents have not been altered or fabricated;
- evidence has been lawfully obtained;
- the entrant has the legal right to submit the material.
6. Fraudulent or Misleading Entries
Any entry containing intentionally false, fabricated, manipulated or misleading material may be immediately disqualified.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- forged documents;
- altered laboratory reports;
- manipulated photographs or videos;
- AI-generated material presented as genuine evidence;
- fabricated witness statements;
- intentionally misleading descriptions of evidence.
The organiser reserves the right to report suspected criminal conduct to the appropriate authorities where warranted.
7. Verification
The organiser may take any reasonable steps necessary to verify the authenticity of submitted material.
This may include:
- contacting laboratories;
- contacting organisations;
- seeking clarification from the entrant;
- obtaining independent expert opinions;
- requesting original documents.
Failure to cooperate with reasonable verification requests may result in disqualification.
8. Confidential Information
Entrants should not submit material that they are prohibited by law from disclosing.
Where confidential information is submitted, the entrant should clearly identify the confidential portions and explain why confidentiality is requested.
The organiser will make reasonable efforts to preserve confidentiality where possible but cannot guarantee that confidential material will remain confidential if disclosure is required by law or is necessary to verify the evidence.
9. Intellectual Property
The entrant retains ownership of their original work.
By submitting an entry, the entrant grants the organiser a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
- review the submission;
- copy the submission for assessment purposes;
- provide copies to adjudicators and expert reviewers;
- retain the submission for record-keeping;
- publish all or part of the submission after the competition has concluded, unless confidentiality has been agreed in writing.
The entrant warrants that the submission does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any other person.
10. Independent Adjudication
The competition will be determined solely by the appointed adjudicators.
The adjudicators may consult independent experts where specialised knowledge is required.
The adjudicators are not required to accept opinions submitted by entrants.
11. Requests for Further Information
The adjudicators may request additional information where clarification is reasonably required.
A request for additional information does not indicate that a submission is likely to succeed.
Failure to provide requested information within the specified timeframe may result in the submission being determined on the material already provided.
12. No Obligation to Award the Prize
The existence of one or more entries does not oblige the organiser to award the prize.
The prize will only be awarded if the adjudicators determine that the published standard of proof has been satisfied.
If no submission satisfies that standard, no prize will be awarded.
13. Prize Payment
The prize will be paid only after:
- the adjudicators have reached a final decision;
- any verification process has been completed;
- the winner’s identity has been confirmed; and
- any applicable legal requirements have been satisfied.
Payment will be made using a reasonable method agreed between the organiser and the winner.
14. Taxes
Any taxation arising from receipt of the prize is the sole responsibility of the winner.
Entrants should obtain their own taxation advice.
15. Multiple Entries
Multiple entries are permitted.
Each submission will be assessed independently.
Previously rejected material may be resubmitted only where significant new evidence has been added.
16. Withdrawal of Entries
An entrant may withdraw their submission at any time before a final decision has been made by giving written notice to the organiser.
17. Disqualification
The organiser may disqualify any entrant who:
- breaches these Terms and Conditions;
- attempts to interfere with the competition;
- knowingly submits false or misleading material;
- impersonates another person;
- engages in abusive, threatening or unlawful conduct.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the organiser, adjudicators and any persons assisting with the administration of the competition shall not be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense arising from participation in the competition, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
19. Privacy
Personal information collected during the competition will be used solely for the purposes of administering the competition, verifying submissions, communicating with entrants and complying with legal obligations.
Personal information will not be sold or disclosed to unrelated third parties except where required by law or reasonably necessary to administer the competition.
20. Amendments
The organiser may amend these Terms and Conditions or the Competition Rules before the closing date where reasonably necessary.
Any amendments will be published on this website together with the date they take effect.
No amendment will unfairly prejudice an entrant in respect of a submission already received.
21. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
Any dispute arising in connection with the competition shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
22. Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with the Competition Rules and Evidence Standards, constitute the entire agreement between the organiser and each entrant concerning the competition.
